Bonhoeffer Warranty for Customers & Dealers
Policy & Procedure Manual
The Company warranty, subject as hereinafter provided that all new equipment supplied by it are free from
defects in material and workmanship, its liability undersuch warranty being limited to making goods at factory to
be nominated by it, any part or parts which shall be returned to the Company or its authorized representative and
which the Company is satisfied on its examination of the part or parts to have been defective in material or
workmanship.
The period of warranty is Fifteen Months for Two Stroke and 36 Month for Four Stroke Machines from the date of invoice to the customer.
Note: all 4 stroke machines - Gasoline Engines / Gasoline Generator+ Invertor + Gasoline Water Pump+ Gasoline Tillers and Diesel Tiller 950D covered only 36 months warranty.
Provided that.
- The Company will not be responsible for any expenses like transportation of break down machine and revenue loss due to failure or other costs which might be involved.
- All replaced parts shall become the property of the Company. The company will release replace part after received the failed part at HO.
- Warranty will not cover, any failure arising from the abnormal or improper use of machines or wilful damages.
- Any normal wear & tear, improper maintenance, improper lubrication, improper storage, dirt, abrasive, moisture, water, rain, snow, rust corrosion, or other similar conditions will not be covered under warranty.
- Any losses or damage to property, production, financial loses, personal injury, direct/ indirect loses or other expenses arising due to operation or non-operation of the product will not cover under warranty.
- Any failure arising from transportation, accident, abuse, act of god, fire, contaminated fluids or neglect or failure to operate,store, and maintain the productin accordance with instruction provided in the operator manual supply with the product will not cover under warranty.
- Any failure arising from the use of incorrect fuel or 2T oil mixed for the two-stroke engine or incorrect chain oil for oil pump or incorrect Engine oil used in four stroke engine will not be covered under warranty.
The Company does not give any Warranty in respect of its goods except the foregoing warranty which is given expressly in lieu of and excludes all other warranties and conditions expressed or implied whether under Common Law, Statue, or otherwise, and every form of liability for loss or damage direct or consequential, or for any accident resulting from defective material, faulty workmanship or otherwise is expressed excluded.
Explanations
The explanations of the foregoing warranty definition are furnished as follows:
- 1. The warranty period once started from the date of delivery will not be interrupted for any reason.
- 2. This warranty shall not apply if in the company’s opinion which will be final, the equipment is subjected to misuse, negligence, improper or inadequate maintenance or accident or if such services as prescribed in the company’s owner’s service manual are not carried out by the buyer through the Company’s authorized Dealers and their branches.
- 3. This warranty will not cover normal wear and tear and any inherent normal deterioration of the equipment or any of its parts arising from the actual use of the harvester or any damage due to negligent or improper operation or storage of the equipment.
- 4. The buyer will have no other right except those set out above and have no right to repudiate the sale, or any agreement, or to claim any reduction in the purchase price of the equipment, or to demand any damages or compensation for losses, incidental or otherwise, incurred or accrued.
- 5. This warranty shall stand terminate if equipment is transferred or otherwise alienated by the buyer without the company’s prior written consent.
- 6. The Company further reserves the right at any time or times without notice to revise, modify, discontinue or change any of the models of the Company’s equipment or any part thereof and neither the company nor the seller will incur any liability or obligation to the purchaser by reason of any revision, modification, discontinuance or change.
- 7. The company’s obligation under this warranty shall be limited to repairing or replacing, free of charges, such parts of the equipment which, in the company’s opinion, are defective. The parts so repaired or replaced shall also be warranted for quality and workmanship, but such warranty shall be co-terminus with this warranty.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
The Customer has the right to submit his product for warranty service consideration to any authorized company’s Dealer of his choice within the country.
The Customer must furnish to the authorized company’s Dealer proof of purchase information such as invoice, properly filled warranty card and duly signed. However, by itself, it is not considered proof of purchase. From this information it can be determined whether the Customer’s product should be considered for warranty.
The product must exhibit reasonable care in the maintenance, operation, storage, and general upkeep practices as explained in the maintenance section of the Owner’s/Operator’s Manual. This includes the whole product or any general wear item or component on the product.
Any costs incurred to obtain warranty consideration or services is the Customer’s responsibility, including shipping and handling, travel expense, lost time, lost production, or pickup and delivery.
The Warranty Statement identifies items and defects not covered by the warranty and the Customer’s responsibilities.
LIMITATION FOR ACCEPTANCE OF CLAIM ON WEAR AND TEAR
Items to be excluded from warranty.
- (a) Gaskets and oil seals
- (b) Belt & all pulley
- (c) All electrical items like bulbs, burnt wiring, and rubber items like oil seal, o rings.
- (d) Normal wear and tear of clutch lining, Brake (these are meant to wear subject to regular usage and would not constitute a manufacturing defect)
- (e) Parts replaced during Free Services, Chargeable Services and routine maintenance schedules
- (f) Fasteners
- (g) Cutting blade, accessories fitted to equipment
- (h) Failure / defects due to usage of non-recommended lubricants
- (i) Parts which are easily affected by external hits
- (j) Sheet metal parts
- (k) If any of the free service not carried out
FORAUTHORIZED BONHOEFFER DEALERS
INTRODUCTION
This manual has been produced as a Dealer’s guide to the Bonhoeffer Warranty Statement and sets forth the
warranty procedures required after the sale of any Bonhoeffer name brand product. Please read this manual
carefully. Make sure that all employees and agents associated with the handling of any Bonhoeffer product read
and fully understand this manual. We would like to thank you in advance for your qualified help and support of
the Authorized Bonhoeffer Dealer network.
DEALER RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dealer is expected to use reasonable judgment in any warranty situation. All authorized Bonhoeffer Dealers shall provide service to all customers on an equal basis regardless of where the product was purchased.
If all of the requirements are satisfied in the Warranty Statement, warranty service must be provided. If the defect
is in fact warrantable, the Dealer is obligated to perform warranty service on that item at no cost to the Customer.
If the Dealer is not able to decide clearly that the failure is due to “defects in materials or workmanship,” the
Bonhoeffer Technical Services Department should be contacted for assistance.
At the time of sale, it is the Dealer’s obligation to comply with the following instructions:
The Dealer must furnish the Owner’s/Operator’s Manual and, if applicable, the current Operator’s Safety Manual to the Customer at the time of sale together with all accessoriesintended to be furnished with the product as part of the unitsale.
The Dealer must make sure that all warning decals are affixed to the product and accessories.
The Dealer must fill Warranty Registration Card properly which includes giving the specific identification number. This warranty card should be mailed/couriered to Bonhoeffer at the time of purchase.
The Dealer must not sell the product “in the box.” Pre-delivery setup is required on all Bonhoeffer products. Refer to the Pre-delivery Service requirements section.
The Dealer must not make any unauthorized modifications or alterations to the product.
The Dealer may not make any warranties on behalf of Bonhoeffer which have not been authorized by Bonhoeffer in writing.
When selling replacement chains and guide bars to a Customer, the Dealer must check with the guide bar and
chain list for Bonhoeffer products to ascertain that the bar and/or chain he is selling is on the approved list and of
a reduced kickback force type where applicable.
The Dealer shall maintain a sufficient inventory of replacement parts to promptly satisfy consumer warranty requirements.
NOTE: The Dealer is not obligated to perform standard, recommended maintenance (as explained in the Owner’s/Operator’s Manual) at no charge to the Customer. Standard recommended maintenance is not part of any warranty, and is a Customer maintenance obligation.
PRE-DELIVERY SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
Pre delivery service is required on all Bonhoeffer products.
Bonhoeffer sells its products through authorized servicing dealers. It is your obligation as a Bonhoeffer Servicing
Dealer to ensure that prior to every sale of a Bonhoeffer product, the product is properly setup, adjusted and
operating within factory established guidelines. Before you do anything, read the Operator’s Manual and any
Safety Manuals that are supplied with the product. Only after you become familiar with the operating and safety
instructions are you prepared to proceed with pre-delivery service and operation of any Bonhoeffer product.
The followingpre-delivery service guidelines are by product groupas few examples stated below
CHAIN SAWS
- 1. Remove the top cover. Check that the ignition leads are routed correctly. Make sure the fuel. line, grommets and air filter are correctly installed. Make sure the Carburettor retaining screws are properly tightened. Install the top cover.
- 2. Make sure the muffler screws are properly tightened.
- 3. Install the bar and chain and adjust the chain tension.
NOTE: Make sure the chain brake is disengaged before installing the clutch cover. Damage to the chain brake
system may occur if the clutch cover is installed with the chain brake activated. Set the chain oiler to the setting
recommended for the length of bar being installed.
- 4. Fill the fuel tank with gasoline and Two-Stroke EngineOil mixed at a ratio of 40:1. Fill the oil tank with Bonhoeffer Bar & Chain Lubricant, or its equivalent.
- 5. Follow the starting procedures as instructed in the Operator’s Manual and start the saw. Allow the saw to reach
operating temperature, then perform final Carburettor adjustments. A suitable two-stroke single-cylinder
tachometer must be used for checking and adjusting the maximum no-load RPM. Otherwise, the engine can be
severely damaged.
- 6. After running the saw and completing the final carburettor adjustments, switch the saw off and allow it to cool to ambient temperature, then retighten the muffler screws.
- 7. Refer to the Dealer’s responsibilities section of this manual and follow all instructions.
GRASS TRIMMERS, BRUSHCUTTERS & CLEARING SAWS
- 1. Assemble the unit as instructed in the Operator’s Manual making sure that the handles, controls and cutting attachment with the correct cutting attachmentshield are properly installed.
- 2. Remove the top cover. Check that the ignition leads are routed correctly. Make sure the fuel line, grommets and air filter are correctly installed. Make sure the Carburettor retaining screws are properly tightened. Make sure that the throttle works properly from idle to full throttle position. Install the top cover.
- 3. On units with bevel drive gear heads, make sure the gear head is properly lubricated with grease (3/4 full).
- 4. Fill the fuel tank with gasoline and Two-Stroke Engine Oil or its equivalent mixed at a ratio of 40:1
- 5. Follow the starting procedures as instructed in the Operator’s Manual and start the unit. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature, then perform final carburettor adjustments. A suitable two-stroke single-cylinder tachometer must be used for checking and adjusting full throttle RPM. Otherwise, the engine can be severely damaged.
- 6. After running the unit and completing the final carburettor adjustments, switch the engine off and allow it to cool to ambient temperature, then retighten the muffler screws.
- 7. Refer to the Dealer’s responsibilities section of this manual and follow all instructions.
LAWN MOWERS
- 1. Assemble the unit asinstructed in theOperator’s Manual making sure thatthe handles and controls are correctly installed.
- 2. If the unit is equipped with a four-stroke engine, check the engine oil level and fill the tank with gasoline as instructed in the Operator’s Manual.
- 3. Inspect the control levers and cables. Make sure the cables are free from sharp bends and are correctly routed and secured. Check and adjust the control levers, ensuring that they operate correctly through their full range of movement and that once set, they maintain their position.
- 4. Make sure all safety switches function correctly.
- 5. If the unit is equipped with an engine brake, make sure the brake fully disengages in the run position. Start the engine, engage the engine brake and make sure the brake functions properly
- 6. Refer to the Dealer’s responsibilities section of this manual and follow all instruction
TILLERS
- 1. Assemble the unit asinstructed in theOperator’s Manual making sure that the handles and controls are correctly installed.
- 2. Check tire pressure if applicable. The tires are typically over inflated at the factory. Correct tire pressure for your specific model is in the Operator’s Manual
- 3. If the unit is equipped with a four-stroke engine, check the engine oil level and fill the tank with gasoline as instructed in the Operator’s Manual.
- 4. If the unit is equipped with a two-stroke engine, fill the fuel tank with gasoline and Two-Stroke Engine oil mixed at a ratio of 40:1.
- 5. Check the control levers and cables. Make sure cables are free from sharp bends and are correctly routed and secured.
- 6. Start the engine, make sure all controls operate correctly through their full range of movement.
- 7. Refer to the Dealer’s responsibilities section of this manual and follow all instructions
WARRANTY
- 1. Parts replaced under valid warranty repairs will be replenish the same parts to the dealer.
- 2. Bonhoeffer warranty claim for dealer customer warranty repairs and are the only warranty claims which will be accepted for warranty. The claim must be filled out completely and submitted within 30 days of the completed repair. Any claim not submitted within 30 days is subject to rejection.
- 3. All parts which have been replaced under warranty must be returned to Bonhoeffer Head Office.
- 4. Certain items (Engine, Carburetor and expensive parts) replaced under warranty require prior authorization from Bonhoeffer.
Claims for Warranty should not be honoured by the dealer under the following circumstances:
- 1. Part for which the warranty has expired.
- 2. Parts that are not original equipment parts or accessories.
- 3. Parts that have failed due to normal wear or lack of recommended maintenance.
- 4. Visual appearance items such as paint or decals.
- 5. Engine failure due to improper lubricants, fuels (including alcohol and gasohol).
- 6. Engine failure due to incorrect Carburettor adjustments or incorrectstorage habits.
- 7. Engine or component damage caused by mismatched pitch or gauge of bar, chain or sprockets or by improper chain filing, maintenance procedures, chain adjustments, or cutting habits.
FILING CLAIMS
The Bonhoeffer Warranty System will accept only Claim Form for dealer customer warranty. No other forms will be accepted for warranty claims. The claim forms will be shared (Soft copy) with you at the time of appointing and intimation will be given if any changes.
The claim form to be taken as double, Manufacturer copy ( First copy) and Dealer filing Copy (Second copy).
The claim must be filled out completely and accurately or it will not be processed. If a claim cannot be processed
for any reason, the claim will be returned to the dealer with explaining the reason(s). In the event a claim is
returned to the dealer, the dealer should make the appropriate changes/corrections and return both the claim
and explanation copy to Bonhoeffer for processing within 15 days of receipt.
Each warranty repair must be submitted on a separate warranty claim form.
After the Dealer fills out the claim form completely and properly, the Dealer copy should be removed and kept for the Dealer’s records
The original copy should be placed in an envelope and send to Bonhoeffer.
The First copy to be placed in plastic bag to keep the claim from becoming soiled. The parts being returned for warranty should be tagged with the first copy which is placed in plastic bag.
NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE FIRST COPY ACCOMPANY AND DEALER COPY BEING RETAINED BY DEALER, ORIGINAL SHOUD BE SEND TO BONHOEFFER. DO NOT MAIL SEPARATELY.
Only the following parts must need to be sent along with the warranty claim(s), Cylinders, Pistons, Crankshafts, Carburettor, Fuel Tanks, Mufflers, Clutches, Safety Apparel, and Ignition Components including Flywheel. Wheel Motors and Commercial Hydro Pumps. All other parts are to be held at the dealerships for 60 days after receiving payment for the warranty claim(s). If we need other parts, we will contact you.
REPLACEMENT OF COMPLETE UNITS REQUIRE PRE-APPROVAL. CONTACT BONHOEFFER FOR RETURN GOODS AUTHORIZATION BEFORE RETURNING. ANY UNIT RETURNED WITHOUT PRE-APPROVAL WILL BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER.
Units sent in with oil and fuel will be chargedRs.1000/-hazardous waste disposal fee.
FILLING OUT THE CLAIM FORM
The claim form must be completed, or it will not be processed. PLEASE PRINT LEGIBLY.
DON’T FORGET:
1. Please do not alter the claim form or claim number in any way; this will prevent processing.
2. Please include dealer name, customer name, address and phone number.
3. Claims will not be honoured without complete model numbers and complete serial numbers.
4. The date sold, date failed, and date repaired are mandatory to validate warranty time limits.
5. Hours used gives us valuable information for analysis.
6. Part numbers, quantity and description must be correct as this controls your parts replacement. Always check
that you are using the latest Bonhoeffer Illustrated Parts List (IPL) and check the current price book or supplements
for the most recent part number changes. This information is readily available from Bonhoeffer.
7. Give a detailed description for the reason of failure. If the failure (symptom) and the cause are stated clearly, the claim can be evaluated quickly and easily.
8. Give detailed description of the work performed
9. All claims must be signed by dealer.
10. Please remember: RETURN ONLY CYLINDERS, PISTONS, CRANKSHAFTS, CARBURETORS, FUEL TANKS,
MUFFLERS, CLUTCHES, SAFETY APPAREL AND IGNITION COMPONENTS INCLUDING FLYWHEEL.WHEEL MOTORS
AND COMMERCIAL HYDRO PUMPS NOT REQUIRED TO BE RETURNED.
QUESTIONABLE FAILURES
Questionable failures (i.e., piston seizure, crankshaft bearing failure, etc.), or repeat failures on the same product with the same Customer require further investigation.
Try to analyse the failure, the Customer usage habits, and any other pertinent information that could be causing the failure.
Over period of months your own warranty analysis experience will show you that some of these failures are related to Customer use, and/or abuse. For example, something as simple as an incorrect carburettor adjustment can cause the cylinder to fail.
Be cautiousin committing to any warranty work before you are sure the failure is due to “defectsin workmanship. ”If a warranty dispute develops between the Customer and the Dealer, your Bonhoeffer Technical Services Departmentshould be contacted for assistance.
REPLACEMENT PART WARRANTY
Bonhoeffer genuine parts installed on Bonhoeffer products with warranty coverage are warranted for 30days or the duration of the product’s warranty, whichever is longer.
Warranty claims for any such failed part are handled as normal Bonhoeffer warranty except that the part. purchase date should be entered in the “DATE SOLD” section of the warranty claim form. “Replacement Part” or “Separate Part” must also be written along with the reason for failure.
Any new stock part found to be defective must have the model number on the claim for processing.
BONHOEFFER NON-WARRANTY CLAIMS
Bonhoeffer believes that it manufactures the best and safest power equipment in the world. Therefore, Bonhoeffer is fully committed to protecting dealers who, through no fault of their own, become involved in nonwarranty claims of a customer which arise as a result of selling our products. It is our firm policy to protect a dealer who becomes involved in such claims who has done nothing more than sell a Bonhoeffer product in the normal course of business.
Obviously, it is not possible to identify every conceivable example of a prospective wrongful act by a dealer which would preclude Bonhoeffer from protecting such dealer from non-warranty claims asserted. by a customer. It has been Bonhoeffer’s experience that the most common of such acts committed by a dealers are as follows:
- 1. The dealer fails to furnish the Owner’s Manual and the current Operator’s Safety Manual to the customer at the time of purchase together with the applicable tool kit, accompanying accessories and appropriate instructions.
- 2. The dealer fails to make sure that all warning decals are affixed to the saw powerhead and accessories.
- 3. The dealer sells the product “in the box” without approved cutting equipment and proper setup or fails to mount the Bonhoeffer authorized.
- 4. The dealer fails to make proper repairs or makes unauthorized modifications or alterations to the product.
- 5. The dealer makes to the customer false or misleading claims or warranties not authorized by Bonhoeffer. To assist Bonhoeffer in fulfilling its policy to protect, whenever possible, the dealer from non-warranty claims asserted by a customer and arising from selling Bonhoeffer products in the normal course of business, the dealer must promptly forward a copy of such claims to Bonhoeffer.
