Gasoline engines are ideal for high-power applications because they burn a volatile liquid fuel with ignition powered by an electric spark. These engines are built to meet the requirements for power-plant applications. Gas engines are widely used in automobiles, small trucks, general aviation aircraft, outboard and inboard marine units, moderate-sized stationary pumping, lighting plants, machine tools, and power tools.

1 .Can I use synthetic oil in my Bonhoeffer engine?
Bonhoeffer engines are developed, tested and certified with petroleum based motor oils as a lubricant. Synthetic oils may be used; however, any motor oil used in our engines must meet all oil requirements as stated in the owner Manual. In addition, recommended oil change intervals must be followed.
2 .How do I clean the carburettor of a Bonhoeffer engine?
See our Carburettor workshop Sheet to learn more about cleaning carburettors. Please be aware that the engine should be serviced by an Bonhoeffer Authorized Dealer unless the owner has proper tools, service data and the necessary technical skills.
3 .What fuel should I use in my Bonhoeffer Engine?
Bonhoeffer engines are designed and certified to run on regular unleaded gasoline containing no more than 5% ethanol (E10). Gasoline is allowed, by regulation, to contain a variety of additives. The same regulation limits how much of some additives, such as alcohol, can be included in the fuel and still allow it to be sold as gasoline. If you look in a Bonhoeffer product owner’s manual, you will see that a maximum of 5% ethanol is allowed (other oxygenates are also listed). Bonhoeffer engines are designed for good performance and efficient operation using gasoline containing from 0 to 5% ethanol. Always refer to the owner’s manual for your Bonhoeffer to get a list of recommended fuel and the current approved additives. For more information, see our Fuel Recommendations Link .
